YOU NEED FRAMING
If you are considering buying a value for money print
from us and are unsure how to frame or mount
your print then please read some of the
suggestions below
Unlike others we are happy to supply our
canvases as a print only.
This gives you more options than a canvas wrap
and you have a large selection of frames to
choose from. You can buy frames via the
internet or hobby/craft shops and local frame
suppliers. Dont forget local discount warehouses
Below are some suggestions for framing
and mounting your prints. These are all options
that I have used successfully.
I hope you will find them useful
When you receive your print remove it from its
tube and roll it out. You should leave it on a flat
surface for several hours befor framing.
PICTURE FRAME
Treat your canvas print the same as a photograph. Simply place your print into a standard picture
frame behind glass ( you will need to cut off the
excess canvas around the print to fit standard size frames)
This is a good option for environments where there
may be people who smoke.
UNGLAZED FRAMES
Fit your canvas print to an unglazed standard picture frame.
If you cannot find a frame without glazing then buy a
glazed frame and remove the glass.
To mount your print to an unglazed frame you will need to use
spray mount adhesive to secure it to the backing board by
following the manufacturer's instructions.
Important- please ensure the backing board is at least 4mm
thick preferably 6mm MDF. Do not use foam board as this
can warp.
If you can use a 6mm back then you can fold the canvas
around the edges and staple it to the board using short
staples.

MDF BOARD MOUNT
Use a piece of MDF 12 or 18mm thick and cut, or have it cut
slightly smaller than your print. Sand the edges smooth
and paint them with 2~3 coats of emulsion paint.
(tip-the little tester pots are ideal for this)
Use spray mount adhesive following the manufacturer's
instructions and secure your print to the board. When
attached firmly trim your print to size.
MDF BOARD WRAP
You can wrap your print around the edges of 12~18mm
MDF.You will need to cut, or have your board cut smaller
than your print to allow it to wrap around the sides.
For example, if you use 18mm MDF you should cut your
board approximately 50mm smaller than your print size. To
prepare the board sand all the edges and corners
until you have no sharp edges.
Place your print face down on a clean flat surface
and place your board central to the print. Fold one
edge over the board and staple it down working
from the centre outwards. Do not staple right to the edges.
Now you can staple the opposite edge - please be careful
not to crease the canvas when doing this.
You need to apply a small amount of tension to the canvas
to ensure it doesn't sag.
Repeat as above to attach the other two sides. The corners
are now folded under each other to give a neat finish.
It takes a bit of practice to get neat corners so please
take your time and you will soon get the hang of it.
STRETCHER FRAME
You can buy your own stretcher frame and follow
the same steps as in the MDF wrap instructions.
FRAME SHOP
If none of the above suit your needs you can
always employ the services of your local
framing company.
